types of entrepreneur

Everybody is different in some way or the other. We all have desires to create. Who doesn’t like freedom? If we look around us, we see an adroit pool of opportunities. The only trick is to grab as much as possible. The source of motivation drives you to your path of success. We meet people who claim to be some types of entrepreneur by heart while still working in their fancy cabins of big MNCs. Being an entrepreneur requires full time dedication. That “missing detail” in your life, defines you as a person. For achieving something big, hard work is super essential.

In this regard, I bring to you the seven types of entrepreneur you can meet in your life and are easy to figure out. If you are planning to start one, choose your type wisely.

1. The Builder entrepreneur – ( the one who creates)

This type of entrepreneur focuses on creating business out of scratch. They believe that thinking out of the box gives better results than following the already set trend. This type of entrepreneur is mostly focused and driven. For them, businesses are meant to be scalable and strong. They are usually experienced in every sector of business, be it management or tech. This type of entrepreneur invests his/her money and sacrifices time for making something productive.

A well-known figure in this profession is V.G. Siddhartha who founded Café Coffee Day. Being born into a family of coffee planters for last 140 years, the journey to become owner of India’s largest coffee chains is indeed inspirational. He has all the qualities required to be a builder.

2. The Specialist entrepreneur- (the one with skills)

A specialist is a person who develops a skill and builds a business with that skill. Their work is mainly based on their expertise and complete knowledge about that field. This type of entrepreneur is risk averse and anti-selling. The specialists are boss of their own work. They get to do what they have always loved to do. They generate their business mainly from networks and referrals. Their success is measured by their personal income.

Expansion, diversification and growth in this area are very slow. A research found that most specialist-owned businesses plateau in revenues well below $5 million.

Just like any other Youtube channel, EIC Outrage specializes in making sarcastic videos and stand-up comedy. They like to entertain people and they are making money through it.

3. The Opportunist entrepreneur- (the one who takes risk)

An opportunist is a speculator, highly motivational and hard working person. They always want to be at the right place at right time and make money as fast as possible. They always tend to seek newer techniques and new methods to carry out their business.

The classic opportunist is a day trader today, flips real estate tomorrow, and takes a sales job next week. Think about Sir Richard Branson and you would know what an opportunist really mean. He is the founder of Virgin Group which comprises of 400 plus companies. He is an investor, philanthropist and a business magnate. This type of entrepreneur is great at seeing potential of an idea or a business. An opportunist DNA measures success based on the amount of money they make when they aren’t working. They are usually drawn to the opportunities where leverage can be used to make higher profits.

4. The Innovator entrepreneur- (the researcher)

This type of entrepreneurship is not planned instead it comes eventually with the advent of an idea. The innovator plans to build up something cool and different.  However, they lack knowledge of running a business and management but they have capability to design a product which can give them large amount of profits.

Take into account Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, you will find the innovator DNA working. In the era of social media, where Orkut was growing at its peak, he came up with an idea for a wider platform. They measure their success by the impact they are generating on the lives of men. The innovators usually hide out in their labs and dungeons for comprehensive research where they want to invest, design and tinker.

5. The Copycat entrepreneur – (the follower)

What do cats and monkeys do? They see and try to copy others. Likewise, copycat entrepreneurs follow the already trend-setter leader of that industry because they have already given proven results. They try to carbon copy everything, from websites to sample products, from them. It’s true that Underdogs can’t win big gurus of the industry. The infamous Justin Hall is known as the first ever blogger in the world. When he started writing, the trend followed and many new bloggers came into existence.

6. The Skeptical entrepreneur- (the one who can never be satisfied)

If a friend told you that her family was perfect and they never had any problems, would you believe her? Obviously NOT! This type of entrepreneurs always tries to question others’ success. The skeptical entrepreneur is the scariest form because the mindset of such person would never take them to heights. They try to bluff others. Rather than taking initiative and any kind of action, they focus more on spreading hoax about others. They will always make excuses and are full of doubts and reservations hence they can be easily convinced.

7. The Wannabe entrepreneur-( the one who boasts)

There are people in the world who work in big MNCs but still they always keep themselves in the superior position. With some enquiry, they will tell you that they are able to do great things and are confident enough to start an enterprise soon. They are the crybabies and will always burst out their needs to everyone. The only things they lack are MONEY, AN IDEA and FULL TIME.  Only if being an entrepreneur was that simple task, everyone would have become Tata or Birla someday. The wannabe entrepreneur will never go beyond his wannabe stage. And that is in the best interest of everyone.
