Tacnik

Imagine a childhood without video games. Plain static, am I right? The hours all of us have indulged in video games, the daily scolding which we used to receive from our parents; just reading it fills you with a sense of nostalgia. Meet the startup which understands you: Tacnik.

Tacnik is an online platform for Gamers, currently based in Bangalore. Founded by Purnank Prakash, Jeevan Ram, Ishant Sahu and Mayank Banka, Tacnik aims to help video game freaks like us relive their childhood, by setting up a platform where gamers can get updates about latest releases, watch trailers of latest games, initiate discussions on forums and much more. The key feature of Tacnik is their game rental service, but more on that later. First, let us introduce the co-founders of this amazing venture.

Ishant, Jeevan, Mayank and Purnank are alumni of NIT Trichy. Their friendship of around 6 years, coupled with their passion for video games and technology and their ambition to make it big has led to the birth of Tacnik. On moving to Bangalore, they observed that there was a lack of availability for gamers, especially in terms of consoles and game options. Hence, they decided to form Tacnik, to provide quick and affordable options for gamers.

Mayank handles the business and finance end of the company, and he works in close cooperation with another member of the core team, Skandha, in looking after marketing. Purnank takes care of Product and Strategy, while Ishant is the Technical Head and Jeevan is the Head of Operations. With the motto of this startup being Experience the addiction, Tacnik works to incorporate the culture of professional gaming in Bangalore. They even set up video-game zones in colleges, schools, corporate offices and they even help individuals set up gaming spots at their homes.

Tacnik’s key feature is their video game rental service, which is a unique service in India. They rent out consoles such as PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and even LED TVs to install a gaming corner in personalized spaces at affordable rates. They also rent out new video games at rates far cheaper than the actual cost of those games. This helps them to spread the culture of gaming in the city of Bangalore.

After working hard to develop their idea and sell it, Tacnik was chosen for incubation and funding by Axilor. The 100-day Accelerator Programme conducted by Axilor Ventures is helping them to polish off their product for the markets. It will also be helping them implement a business strategy suited for the markets.

Tacnik started off as a small scale venture, where they distributed pamphlets and posters throughout the city, and used social media, for promotion. Then, when their venture gained pace, word of mouth helped increase their client base. Soon, it led to advertisements, promotional campaigns and large-scale marketing, which shows that this company is definitely going places. They have even started conducting events in Bangalore.

Tacnik is an idea that has been brewing in India for quite some time. The social stigma faced in India by video gamers, the gaming industry and the profession of gaming has been challenged quite a lot in the recent years. Even so, the mindset is quite against gaming, where people view gaming as a waste of precious time and money. The founders of Tacnik aim to spread their venture and overcome this mindset. Effectively, it could be a revolution for the gaming scene in India. The founders have big plans for Tacnik. They are working to launch an Android App, and expand their console rentals to Nintendos and Xboxes, and might even go for VR Headsets, which are undoubtedly the future of gaming. They are even looking to expand, once they are well established in Bangalore.

We at The Hacker Street commend these individuals for their hard work, dedication and passion for gaming, and their efforts to lead the gaming revolution in India. We hope that they can keep working with the same level of passion that they are now, and hopefully take India by storm.
