boost your productivity

“Struggle for existence and survival of the fittest“ – this statement made by Darwin has now become an evident universal truth, and if you are a young entrepreneur then you probably understand those words better than anyone else. In this cut-throat competitive world where doing more work in relatively small time frame is a need rather an additive bonus; you got to hold on to these tools to boost your productivity right away.

1. Think it, plan it, do it

Think this way; whatever is your business you got to deliver right? To do so you have to plan its course to fruition. But wait! Think it through.

As simple as it seems, this is the most important contributor for boosting your productivity.

A plan is good when a lot of thinking is being put behind it and it is efficient only when it delivers results to your start-up.

Avoid impulsive plans as they do no good.

Be it before starting a project or before attending a meeting, plan it for it is always a good factor to do business with someone who knows what he or she is doing.

2. Be the hardest working employee in your company

This tool to boost your productivity is the simplest of all and you yourself will agree to it. It is your company and your employee and colleagues watch you. It is you who will drive your start-up to the dream company you have always wanted to build and for that at least in the blooming years of your business, you have to be the employee of the month for quite a successive period. Look into any successful company; they had hard working employees and more than that, harder working founders. After all it is your passion and to make your dream come true, it is a very small price to pay.

3. Be the man of your words

The most important part of your business is your clientele and your employees, and believe it or not their trust on you is the key factor to boost your productivity. To gain trust you have to have this trophy in your moral repertoire.

Trust me, a loyal clientele and staff will definitely boost your productivity as an entrepreneur. Just keep your words.

Quite simple eh— “DON’T MAKE PROMISES IF YOU CAN’T KEEP THEM.”

Just be a man of your words if you are a Van Tobel follower. Just kidding!

4. Always be honest and loyal to your client

A sure booster for your entrepreneur productivity is your trust and loyalty towards your clientele. Don’t confuse it with the previous tool as they are quite different and have a cause-effect relationship. I’ll give you an example to prove my point.

Suppose you are loyal to your clientele. If a big order comes to you, go with the client who made the order first. Now God forbid and if you hit a rough patch someway later and the product or amount you were to make isn’t met. You may be a software developer or any businessman the client knows your trustworthiness and understands your hardship. This is how works in the entrepreneur world.

Remember – “Loyalty is a two way street, if you give it to them you will receive the same courtesy“.

5. Have the boss in meetings

This tool to boost your productivity is as serious as it sounds.

Be it meeting with a client or a discussion on a project with colleagues, always try and be the smartest guy in the room. Always know and prepare answers about the queries of your client before meeting them.

If you are about to pitch in an idea at a meeting, it’s better to get to know all quirks in your proposal and think about the counterproposals if there can be any.

It’s your company to manage, so manage it!

Rightfully, yes. Every meeting is like a deposition and you are in the hot seat.

6. Be presentable to boost your productivity

Your appearance is as important as your talent and managerial skills. So, dress accordingly. I am not saying you to suit up like a lawyer but while going to a meeting or addressing your firm, appear pleasant.

I swear it will boost your productivity right away. Don’t believe me? See other successful entrepreneurs. Well exception has scope everywhere (err Mark Zuckerberg) but still you cannot. I repeat you cannot wear casual wears or have a bed-head at important meetings and occasions.

Everybody loves a properly dressed gentleman or gentlewoman, and in B-world the bar is high and so are the stakes.

7. Wait for it, wait for it and bunt it

For those of you who are familiar with this sports metaphor yes! You got it right. For those of you who didn’t well try to get it.

In the B-world you have to have a lot of patience and wait long enough so that the right opportunity presents itself. The huge corporations didn’t just start pouring in revenues right away. However good may be your idea, you have to give it ample time. So was true for Facebook, so for YouTube and same can be said for Apple.
Same is true when you have the opportunity and so choose them wisely.

Don’t take orders beyond your capacity as failure to deliver will only leave you with a bad reputation and dissatisfied client, both doing more harm than good for your start-up.

It’s your business and you have to take the responsibility for any good or bad that comes in your company’s way. So the best thing is take your time and decide whether a deal is good for your company or not.

Smart decisions taken at the right time will definitely take your start-up to the glory.

Also, one more thing….

Be adaptive and be ready to face curveball challenges that are going to come on your way.

So, keep your head down, do your work and make it BIG!
