We all are busy in life and the most common way of dealing with tasks and deadlines is multitasking.
No, we are not talking about doing all your works and files together. Multitasking involves even the things that we today have accepted as normal habits. Like right now, you are reading this article while texting friends or checking Facebook notifications.
Talking on the phone while cooking, fiddling with music when driving and the most common one-texting while doing anything. All multitasking and being proud about it isn’t exactly the good thing to do. Why? Read on to explore some facts:
Wastes time instead of saving
Sad but true. The illusion of working fast that the rapid switch between many tasks gives us is after all too hard to be true. When you are actually multitasking to save time, you are actually wasting more time than the sum of the time needed to finish each task individually.
It always takes more time to reply to a friend if you are uploading a status.
Makes you overburdened
Yes, you read it right. Multitasking does make you over-burdened instead of reducing work load. In the race finishing all tasks as early as possible, we unnecessarily take a lot of burden on us which is definitely not good for the health.
Increases anxiety
It leads to stress directly. There is always a pressure: Pressure of finishing everything perfectly-that is never possible if you are multitasking. Such pressure eventually leads to depression and anxiety.
So, if you are worried about wrinkles and receding hair line then you should definitely stop multitasking.
Leads to overeating
When you are worried, stressed and desperately looking for a solution or trying to get over with work, we tend to depend more on food rather than talking or sharing our problems with a friend. What we don’t think before making food our best friend during such times of stress is what we are eating and how much. Multitasking inhibits creativity.
If you are used to multitasking then probably you don’t have enough working memory left to make things creative and interesting. It is just about getting the work done somehow when multitasking, quality is hardly taken care of when you have time restriction. It will hardly give above average results.

Causes emotional imbalance
Pressure. Stress. Anxiety. The deadly combination of these three is enough to cause a turmoil in your personal life. Multitasking not only makes one feel stressed but also causes emotional turmoil. It not only stresses the body but also the mind. This may make you fall ill more often, or may make you feel lack of energy or restless throughout the day.
In all such cases, you are not able to spend enough quality time with your closed ones. Be it your family, parents, children or friends, if your health is not well then you are not going to enjoy with anyone. As a result, relationships may get disturbed a lot.
Does not leave time for you
We all multitask with the primary aim of finishing our work fast and having more time for ourselves. Unfortunately, the result is exactly antagonistic to our expectations. It makes you so stressed that you feel over-burdened and that drains you of all your energy.
Hence, stop multitasking if you want your personal time-own time to pamper yourself.
The most important reason
You are not multitasking when you think you are.
As mentioned earlier, it is an illusion that we love to believe benefits us.
We all need to remember that we are all humans and there is no need to try becoming a machine capable of multitasking to be the perfect. Time is indeed limited, but that doesn’t mean that we compromise on the quality of life or work.
From the above mentioned points, we can conclude that multitasking is an evil in disguise! What do you think? let us know by commenting below.
