Shahrukh Khan is an Indian film actor, producer and television personality. He has appeared in over 80 films and has a significant following in Asia and the Indian crowd worldwide. LA Times titled him “The World’s Biggest Movie-Star”, Newsweek named him one of the top fifty powerful and influential people. His net worth is 600 million USD.
Like most of us, even he came from a middle class family where his mother failed to be with him a little longer to see him become a big movie star. Starting his career from scratch, money has always been the apple of his eye. He worked hard because he was afraid of failure. He has lived a few years of his life as most people won’t and is living a life that most people can’t. He doesn’t need to walk a red carpet in tuxedo for people to look at him. He has always been that way. People either like him a lot or they just don’t. But he has great lessons to teach. SRK in himself is a benchmark to look upon for pearls of wisdom on entrepreneurship. Here are few of the lessons we can learn from:
Confidence, Calmness, Wit and an Elegant Speaker Within
An entrepreneur does not doubt his abilities or have low self-belief system. Shahrukh Khan is an actor who exudes unmatchable confidence. Long ago he said in an interview “There are only two big Khans in the world. One is Genghis Khan and the other is Shahrukh Khan”. Often he’s seen arrogant but may be that has helped him in becoming the Badshah of Bollywood. So he never complains about how he’s perceived. One of the reasons for such high confidence is his good skill sets in communication. He can motivate anyone and sell anything with his gift of gab.
It’s really amazing to watch him so relaxed during interviews. He gives fabulous answers even to hot controversial questions. With his characteristic wit and presence of mind, he never fails in making people convinced with his answers. Not because he speaks descriptive things or attach his charm to ferhoodle people, it’s because he speaks things which are close to his heart, which never lets him stammer or fumble at all. A hard-nosed editor once interviewed him and the only thing she said after it was that “He is the next superstar of Bollywood”. It’s definitely his wit and way of presenting his answers that made it a reality too.
Being well-informed
Whenever he speaks about something, he has something worth sharing in his mind. Presence of a firm knowledge is reflected about the way he speaks and the content in it. Even when he makes a movie, he collects all the background knowledge behind the motive of making it. Even if he’s questioned about his superhero sci-fi flick in Ra-One, the answer is going to be technical and lucid enough to understand.
Being Passionate
Having a passion for the things you do is as important as breathing. Higher the passion is, higher will be the chances of getting things done and goals achieved and SRK knows it very well. Developing a six-pack abs in his 40s for Dard-E-Disco in Om Shanti Om is something that only the passion can drive to struggle for.
Developing a great belief system within. Being a great enthusiast
This character is contagious. SRK is known for trying his hands at various businesses that ensures bulk inflow of cash. With that mindset, he secured a place in Indian Premier League and got on board with his team Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008. The team performed hopelessly in the first two seasons. They were totally washed away by the rest of the teams. The team couldn’t make for the finals in the first four years of IPL. Shahrukh didn’t lose hope even after losing a heck lot of money. He kept on inspiring and motivating his team. There were instances when the controversy of selling the team was raised too. He just said “I won’t sell it. It’s not just the money that I’ve put into the team, I’ve bet my heart too.” And people must have watched out his enthusiasm at IPL Season 5. This man was just out of control because of the happiness he got when his team KKR won the finals. Guys like him welcome success with both hands as they’d struggled out a lot in achieving it.
An up-to-date Man
He’s the man who keeps himself updated with the fast moving technology. He’s an e-book reader, a video-game lover, a gadget-user and blah blah blah. This is why he’s always well informed and educated. He was also one of the few celebrities who immediately realized the importance of microblogging platforms like Twitter and Facebook, though they became giants in the years that followed.
Even after all the Struggles, he’s a Family Guy!
Shahrukh Khan is a family guy and the world knows this reality. In his interviews, he looks out for chances where he can get to speak of his son, daughter, wife and sometimes his parents who couldn’t live long enough to see him become a superstar. He lived many years without them in the age when someone needs them badly. But he never counted his curse. He was never among those who blamed nature for it. He just kept on digging his way to success and eradicate poverty. He often says that he’d wish his movies to be so big that his parents could watch it from heaven. Well that’s an irrational part of him that understands the bondage that keep us united.
I’d love to listen some more good things about Shahrukh Khan from which we can get more lessons from in the comments below.
