
Digital payments platform Freecharge has collaborated with the leading coffee chain Cafe Coffee Day that will allow customers to make payments through their online wallet every time they go for a delightful coffee break to their all-time favorite cafe. Customers can make payments at 1,420 cafes spread across 187 cities through Freecharge’s On-the-Go pin service which has been developed and patented to cater to the quick service restaurant segments which are famous for serving their customers under 10 seconds.
The On-the-Go pin service allows users to generate a security code even when they are not connected to the internet. This has been developed as an alternative to text-based one-time authentication model.
Govind Rajan, Chief Operating Officer, Freecharge said that in the journey of expanding their service to several cities across the country, they will also collaborate with CCD branches present at tier-II cities like Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Nellore, Mangalore, Kurukeshtra, Hubli, Agartala, Maarut, Jabalpur etc.
“At Freecharge, our aim is to influence the daily payment methods of consumers and offer an assortment of merchants to help them move away from cash.”, Rajan quoted in a press release.
This is the latest partnership of FreeCharge in the last six months. Earlier this year, it also partnered with McDonalds which provided it with a huge and positive customer response. The collaboration helped users to make faster payments across 216 stores in 26 different cities of the country. They worked closely with McDonald’s to deliver a ‘built-to-order’ product as per their specifications. The transactions are done within 10 seconds in a secure manner with the help of On-the-Go Pin.
They are trying to make a strong presence in the food and beverage industry through the power of digitization.
In April this year, Freecharge also tied up with online ticketing platform BookMyShow for a faster checkout, that is under 10 seconds. “We are glad to have Freecharge on board as a payment partner”, as added by Marzdi Kalianiwala, vice-president at business intelligence and marketing at BookMyShow.
It also partnered with payment gateway CC Avenue as it got access to more than one Lakh online merchants across a wide range of sectors, starting from hospitality to retail to education.
It also partnered with other leading retailer chains like Shopper’s Stop and Mexican movie theater Cinepolis, world’s 4th largest chain of movie theatres. Customers can now book tickets online using Freecharge’s service through their mobile app at 38 theaters across 28 cities.
Freecharge, apart from these collaborations are also aware of their user experience and are improving everyday to keep their users happy when they are using it’s service. 99% of the transactions are covered within 10 seconds and what else does today’s customers need other than a faster service! It is a win-win situation for both the parties. Retailers and merchants, with zero investment can scale up their business instantly and payment platforms like Freecharge can achieve it’s goal of a cashless economy. Their online wallet is expected to go live across all the outlets by 9th May.
