He is an entrepreneur. He is a maker, an innovator.
Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Brian Acton, Lise Meitner, Henri Becquerel, do you know what these people had in common?
They were all forced to drink down the potion of rejection in early stages of their life.
- Steve Jobs was rejected along with his partner Steve Wozniak and later again rejected from his own company APPLE Inc.
- Mr. Disney faced rejection from a whole bunch of magazines for not being ‘too creative’ and ‘lack of imagination’.
- WhatsApp creator Brian Acton was rejected from Facebook Inc.
- Lise Meitner was rejected from University of Vienna for being Jew.
But these people didn’t let these rejections stop them from pursuing their dreams. They buckled up, put their nerves together and used those rejections as spark in their fuel of talent. No wonder they are the greatest examples of entrepreneurs that the world has seen.
You may think I will hereby preach about how to not feel down after failing or having a rejection and that success will eventually come bouncing towards you.
But guess what NO!!!! I am not here to do so.
It’s not that simple and easy! If you have failed, you deserved it. You should feel low. It is a normal and a proper human reaction. But instead of pouting about it get yourself together and start once again on making your own dream start-up, because it is the never dying spirit and that indomitable spirit that will set you apart from the puny mediocre personalities out there. Everyone thinks they deserve better. That’s the problem.
No! You deserve exactly what you have attained or achieved. You deserve exactly what you have worked ‘hard’ for.
You lost? You deserved it.
You won? You deserved it.
You got rejected. Well, probably you didn’t deserve it but if that is the case then see it as the opportunity to attain greater perfection at your craft.
But that doesn’t mean that you should stop trying or you cannot win the battle.
Yes you can!
Yes you can if you have all traits that make an entrepreneur!
No rejection can ever stop a true budding entrepreneur.
Easier said than done. I know. But for success even after taking a hit and getting rejected you have to do two things mainly.
First: Don’t think about the consequences. If you are entering a competition forget about how it can turn out to be. Just try to do your best and give one hundred percent.
Second: Don’t let your fear of rejection restrict you to dream big and fly. Self-doubt had destroyed more dreams than lack of effort.
It’s okay to fail, to get rejected and to feel bad after rejection. More that ninety percent of the successful entrepreneurs have failed before they succeeded.
It’s okay! It’s all okay! But what is not okay is to admit defeat and stop trying. Get over failure because you deserve it.
If you don’t get rejected and even if you are full of flaws then it won’t be justice with one having more talent than you and you getting preferred over them, right? Also how are you going to know your shortcoming if you are not rejected! You might get away with your mistakes once, but both you and your start-up will eventually fall because of them.
If you truly want to succeed and have the nerve to compete and win fairly then even after fifty rejections and hundreds of obstacles do not give up. Rejections make an entrepreneur tough, polished and pave his or her way for ultimate success.
I am not saying to go and have one rejection as good recommended pill but if you come across them then don’t let it stop pursuing and achieving your dreams of having the greatest start-up.
You are definitely going to succeed but for that you have to work hard for your goals and believe in yourself and in the fact that it will soon turn out to be a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’!
No matter what and how big difficulties come your way, make it your mantra:
Good Luck!
